A Collection of Fly Fishing Recipes, from Exmoor.
Top-flight chefs, including Bruce Poole, of ‘Chez Bruce’ fame, Jamie Raftery at ‘The Castle’ in Taunton, Andrew Dixon at ‘Andrew’s on the Weir’, Tom Aikens and Leith’s, along with Exmoor locals, have donated recipes to an attractive and lavishly illustrated new cookbook in aid of South West Fishing For Life, the charity that help people recuperate after breast cancer treatment with the gentle but relevant exercise to be found in fly-fishing.
It is full of trout and salmon recipes, from the quick and easy to the gourmet, interspersed with information on salting, filleting and smoking, all wrapped up in a spiral bound kitchen essential. The recipes are clear and concise, having been edited by Jenny Stringer, a veteran of many classic cookery books from the Leiths School of Food and Wine, and will appeal to anyone wanting to do something traditional or different with fish.
Alongside the recipes, Fishing For Life celebrates the diversity and beauty of the Exmoor National Park. The National Park Authority is supporting the initiative with a grant from the Exmoor National Park Sustainable Development Fund with the hope that the book will increase the opportunities for public understanding and enjoyment of the moor. The book also gives information and links for anyone who may be inspired by the views to be found in the book and would like to know more about this beautiful corner of Britain with its high moorland rolling down to one of the most dramatic coastlines in Britain.
